More entrepreneurs are optimistic in terms of hiring this year, according to a recent survey conducted by Silicon Valley Bank. The survey spoke with 375 startup organizations based in the U.S. and found that most are gazing towards the future optimistically, expecting growth throughout the year and anticipating that they will continue hiring.
The survey showed that 83 percent of startups plan on hiring in 2011, up from last year's figure of 73 percent. Additionally, almost a quarter of all companies revealed that last year's profits were greater than their targets - up by 15 percent from 2009.
These feelings mirror the recent American Express OPEN Small Business Monitor, which found that almost one-third of small businesses are anticipating growth this year and that 56 percent would take a financial risk in order to do so.
American Express' survey also revealed that most entrepreneurs believe in the "you are only as good as your people" business mantra, followed closely by "the customer is always right."
