Small business owners and entrepreneurs have realized the importance of incorporating social and digital media into their marketing mix, and more are allotting extra funding to their budgets this year in order to do so.
Fourteen percent of the small businesses that responded to a survey conducted by Manta
plan on adding social media to their marketing tactics in 2011, with 42 percent revealing that social media helped them connect with consumers.
"Advertisers seem to be signaling that the economy is turning around by increasing their marketing spend across search, display and Facebook to respond to consumer demand," said David Karnstedt, president and CEO of Efficient Frontier.
"We see 2011 as a great opportunity for marketers to manage their online campaigns more holistically across the various channels," he added.
According to a survey conducted by Efficient Frontier, digital marketing rose across all sectors at the end of 2010. Many marketers and small businesses have already embraced the medium, but there are still some that doubt it. Thirty percent of Manta survey respondents said they do not find social media useful, while 8 percent do not find it useful nor plan on using it anytime soon.
