Chase Bank lent more then $10 billion in credit to small businesses across the country.
In Columbus, Ohio, JPMorgan Chase awarded 91 SBA loans worth $9.2 million in 2010, according to the Columbus Dispatch. This figure is more than double the amount of loans and their value than the bank awarded in the same region last year, and 40 percent more than the amount it lent nationwide in 2009, according to the Business Journal Daily.
These 91 loans represented a 133 percent increase in Columbus, placing it second within the district. The bank lent $9.2 million in SBA loans, which shows an increase of 129 percent.
Chase bank awarded loans to more than 250,000 small businesses with annual sales of less than $20 million. Over the last year, the bank has hired 500 lending officers to aid small businesses and provide another look at applications that were initially denied in its "Second Look program," offering $250 million to qualifying small businesses since 2009.
