Starting a Business
When looking into incorporating a business, it is wise to reach out to other like-minded entrepreneurs
for help and advice. Chances are, connections who have begun their own business were once faced with similar challenges and can offer some helpful insight.
In an article by Ivan Misner for Entrepreneur
magazine, entrepreneurs were advised to keep a strong sense of personalization when reaching out to connections.
Rather than sending an email, pick up the phone or visit contacts in person and request to meet with them. Arrive prepared with relevant questions that you'd like your contact to answer.
"Be sure to focus on those questions, write down the answers and stick to the time frame that you promised," Misner writes. "If the conversation goes well, ask if you can meet with them again in the future."
Entrepreneurs should find and hire a business coach with experience in startup businesses, and should read all relevant materials to prepare for the incorporation
Help can also be leveraged from local resources, such as the library. For example, the Brooklyn Public Library helps local businesses via its annual "PowerUp!" contest by promoting business ventures.
